AIM Constantly Disconnecting/Connecting

Post by bwaring »

For the last two days, AIM (not Yahoo or MSN) connections in Adium have been constantly disconnecting and then reconnecting again after a minute or two. Sometimes it's not able to automatically reconnect, and I have to manually do it.

So I tried the official AIM client and the same thing is happening there too. But on searching the Web, I can't find any reference to current AIM problems.

I tried swapping out my router with a spare one, and restarting my DSL modem, problem still happens.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I DEPEND on AIM for work as well as play, and need to get this fixed.

Thanks!!

I have two screen names that I've had for 5+ years, both of them have the same problem so I don't think that's it. (I tried the second after I started having probs with the first.)

I can't imagine how a particular port connection could do this.. but try changing the connect port (Accounts->Edit->Connection). AIM servers listen on just about every port as I recall; try 80 since your web browser works without causing your net connection to drop.
The duck still burns.

Make sure your ports and server stuff is set to the default:
