AIM Being incredibly weird

Post by shanus »

Right now one of my sns, (the one i use on adium), is being reallyu crazy and signing on and off a lot. When it does sign on, it does in a burst, with about 15 contact notifications of people signing on at once, then pausing, then about 15 more, etc. Is anyone else experiencing this? It usually only stays logged on for a very short period. I have never had this problem in the past and used to remain online for hours.

Mine's has done that as well. And since all my friends here on the college dorm system have experienced it at the same time (adium and other unofficial and official clients on mac and PC) we have figured its the central server being screwy. Just wait a little bit and the problem will sort itself out.

That were awful grammar but I can't be bothered to fix it, now.

Yep, I had the problem too. Probably something with AIM, not Adium.

I got something similar, but not identical a few days ago. I got about 25 popups telling me that contacts (all MSN) didn't exist on the server, did I want something or other to happen to my local copies. it went away the next day so I blame it on the server.

BUT, it does point out a little bug in Adium - the error windows should've ended up stacked like when you get multiple failures to connect or whatever, rather than spread over the screen. I really like the way you can mass dismiss the connection errors (which usually come in 3s for me, don't know why) and it would've been nice to be able to do it with the 25 contact does not exist dialogs too :)
