My experience w/ SVN...
So I'm at build 10134. I'm on an iBook G4 1.25ghz w/ 768mb RAM with all the most recent oS X updates on 10.3.8.
I checked out a brand new build of Adium and recompiled it. I deleted the Adium 2.0 folder out of my Application Support folder. So i'm starting fresh.
I start Adium and it starts just fine. When I go into account prefs to add my account, I can do it. Once I add the account, I see the account in my preferences. However, when I check the box to connect, my Adium dock icon forever gets the rotating thingy for connecting. In my prefs, it says i'm online though. Nothing shows up for my buddy list other than the standard blank window.
.77 works perfectly though and i have zero problems with that. Just some feedback. If there are things you'd like me to test to help you troubleshoot this bug, let me know.
Sincerley,
Kevin

I'm getting the crashes too in .8 SVN. I get the Crash Reporter every time I open Adium. This only started happening today so it must be a recent change that's causing this.
Edit: Nevermind. Doing a clean build fixes it.

i hate to say it evands, but inter-group moving is still half-busted, as of .8svn. if this isn't listed as a known issue, it should be =/evands wrote:We are talking .8svn here right?darqmarc wrote:When I attempt to do so I receive an error message that tells me the contact could not be moved, and that the most common reason for that is that the buddy list is full.evands wrote:So why can't you just move them within Adium?
I have tried both by dragging / dropping and through the View Info interface.
I only use the default background image in Metal Chat 2 (none for the contact list).evands wrote:Do you use a background image?ofri wrote:I'm also having this...evands wrote: Nobody else has this crash. Try a fresh checkout and a clean build from your fresh checkout.
IIRC, I was mucking around with a image but decided not to use it. It's still in the image well. Tiled, I think. If so, with what setting? (tile/scale/etc.).
If anyone else is having a crash, if you open ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/WebKit Custom Backgrounds.plist and open the root object, does it take ages to show the root object's contents?
Just the default background for Metal Chat 2.If not, do you have a background color?
Negative. Been trying to avoid that. I'll try it soon and see how it goes.Have you tried a fresh checkout and clean build?
Kiel :-)
Can't get 0.8 SVN running for a couple of days now.
Everytime it crashes at startup..
I'm updating about twice a day.
I'm running 10.3.6 and I update using the buildDaily.sh script.
Now I'm building one "manually", see if that fixes anything..
EDIT:
SVN update: nothing...
Building manually: nothing.
Deleting ~/adium and downloading again through SVN: nothing.
SVN update: Success!
Finally I can use Adium again.

Status message length limit...
I've noticed that if I set my status message to something 'long', others won't see a status message for me at all. I was just wondering what exactly the limit is. A hundred characters or so? [This is with AOL IM and Rendezvous, I'm less concerned about the other protocols.]

Re: Status message length limit...
I thought I'd figured out the maximum and made it automatically truncate. Rendezous doesn't have a limit. AIM's is about 60 characters. Could you test and figure out where in the 55 to 65 character range the real cut off is?madSkeelz wrote:I've noticed that if I set my status message to something 'long', others won't see a status message for me at all. Hm ... was this the reason I was experiencing problems before?evands wrote:I thought I'd figured out the maximum and made it automatically truncate. Rendezous doesn't have a limit. Idle Times Not Updating...
Not sure if this has been discussed before. Searched for it and came up empty-handed, but my buddy list in .8svn does not update idle times. It will update, I think, if someone goes away, but idle times do not update at all unless you close Adium and then open it again. Not even disconnecting and then reconnecting works.
I wish I could tell you what build it is (I have since updated, but I can't get that build to not crash on opening to save my life). I compiled on Thursday of last week, if that's any help at all...

Updated to the latest SVN, still having the same problem... kinda. I've noticed that if you leave it for awhile, then it appears to update by itself ~every hour. Deconn/reconn does the same thing for me now, though. Previous SVN required restart. Must be something with the new status system?Bosk wrote:falcon, i'm experiencing the same idletime bug, but disconn/reconn fixes it. i haven't built in a while...i'm not supposed to talk about it but you know why
Hello. Firstly, thanks dev people for such an amazing product.
Now, I've been using the SVN .8 version for a couple of weeks now and recently I've noticed a very odd bug. I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not.
Every now and then, I get IM messages pop up from the wrong people. As in I get two messages, one from the actual person who sent it, and the exact same message from someone else on my contact list. I only realised this when I replied to one and the dude had no idea what I was talking about.
It gets stranger. Sometimes, I get my own message returned to me from someone else
So I would say something like "Hello, Adium is cool" and straight away I would get a new IM from a random person on my list saying "Hello, Adium is cool".
Sounds like a routing prob.
Anyway, I hope that makes sense.
Thanks again.
A.
