Growl Window Coloring
I searched for this but didn't find anything. With the introduction of Growl in 0.8 as the new visual notification backend, it appears that we have lost the ability to control the colors of the background of the notification window itself. I see that Growl 0.6 has the ability to define the color of the window based on a "priority" list, but then Growl is no longer taking its color cues from Adium. I dunno if this is verson incompatibility thing, it just hasn't been implemented yet, or if this is intended (which is the feeling I'm getting based upon the Growl-centric "priority" settings). Just wondering if anyone knows.
Thanks.
Thanks.

No. Is this something you really need? If so, why?spacemanspiff wrote:Maybe I'm missing it, but in the current SVN version is there any way to show my current away message in a window?
Feel free to hit send on them rather than ignore... wouldn't worry too much about writing out detailed descriptions for them, though. That way it's minimal effort on your part but they still get into our database.perez wrote:Should we be submitting crash reports (using the automatic crash reporter) for SVN?

Maybe it's just something I've grown used to from using the official AIM client for so many years. Having a window showing my current away message is a really quick way of checking to see what that away message is without needing to mouse over my screen name in my contact list. And, it's a good way to realize that I'm actually away without needing to check the dock icon (think of people who hide their docks). I often forget to take my away message off if I don't have that window there as a reminder.evands wrote:No. Is this something you really need? Also, while I really like the features of the new status system, it would be nice to be able to set a quick away message without having to dig through the interface. In 0.7x if I was running out of the room, I was able to hit command-Y, type my away message, and hit a button. Now, as far as I can tell, I need to go to the status menu, choose "Custom...", change my State to "Away," type in a status message, select auto-reply, deselect "with a custom auto-reply message," and then hit OK. I love that I have all of those options available, but I also think that there should be a simpler interface for jotting a quick away message. I'm not sure if this is planned for the future, but I just thought I'd put it out there as a suggestion.
Agreed, I keep hitting command+y and realizing it isnt there. I feel the window should be an option as well, its hard to tell when I'm away sometimes.spacemanspiff wrote:

Understandable. Not saying for sure it's going to stay gone or come back, but you make good points there.spacemanspiff wrote:Maybe it's just something I've grown used to from using the official AIM client for so many years. Don't worry, it's definitely not finished yet. When it is, the same keystrokes as before will let you pull up the window, type, and go away. You can see this is is partially in place in recent source in that you can type as soon as the window opens and pressing Return sets the message rather than inserting a new line.Also, while I really like the features of the new status system, it would be nice to be able to set a quick away message without having to dig through the interface. Thanks. I figured it was probably in the works. Keep up the great work!evands wrote:Don't worry, it's definitely not finished yet. Is it possible to "mute while away" in .8 (at this point), or should I just keep Sounds.plist's <key>Mute Sounds Temporarily</key> handy?
Edit: Actually, that doesn't seem to do anything... but my original question stands, since changing the volume crashes .8svn for me.

Yes. For many users, this is the only visual feedback that you are away. Dock icons can be small or hidden. I already have far too many menulets, so the EMD is not an option for me. I use a borderless contact list, so I can't use the contact list status menu. That leaves the fact that I have consciously listed myself in my contact list as the only way I can check whether I am away or not. Then, as was pointed out earlier, the only way to actually see the full content of my away message is via a tooltip. This information should be more easily available.evands wrote:No. Is this something you really need? My only requests for .8 are that animation / window snapping / webkit can be turned off. I'd much prefer the old message view simply because of speed. I've made my own modifications to the Adium source code for speed (it disables the fancy tab dragging and window snapping):
Comment out line 36 in AICustomTabDragWindow.m so it looks like:
//useFancyAnimations = ([NSApp isOnPantherOrBetter] && floaterWindowImage);
Add a line below it:
useFancyAnimations = false;
In AIDockingWindow, line 10, change it to:
#define WINDOW_DOCKING_DISTANCE 0 //Distance in pixels before the window is snapped to an edge
A quick thing to devs: any way to enable the old message view?

AISMViewPlugin.m line 32
replacing that with if(YES) will cause it to use the SMV. I had to use it for testing some code I was writing that had to support both. The SMV was like 600000 times harder to get it working with, so it's still not done.
Also, using YES/NO instead of true/false is probably best. This is ObjC after all
