MSN Display Name / Alias Issue

Post by alpharuin »

MSN alias and display name need to be too separate things!

I like to have my alias for all my accounts say "Me". However in MSN setting the alias to "Me" changes the msn display name so all my contacts actually see the word "Me" as my name. I want to be able to have something like a nick on my display name instead of "Me".

Gaim seems to do this just fine (they have a separate setting for "friendly name"), im surprised this feature is not in Adium. :(

Please don't give the "program X does Y, Adium should, too" argumentation... we're not a clone of -any- other program, and our feature set intends to be both unique and superior :D

That said, your voice is heard, and not alone. We're looking at integrating this into a future release :)
The duck still burns.

I think alpha's point was more to the effect of if gaim does this it's probably built into libgaim so implementation shouldn't be a problem.

anyway, I'm glad to hear it's on its way. Adium is one of the only programs I know of where you can say to the devs, hey, I think this is a good idea and there's actually a chance of it showing up in a future release. that's one of the main reasons I use Adium.

[/sucking up to devs] :D

Thats that what I was going for. Didn't mean to do the "oh look what they can do and you cant" thing.

Anyway, nice to know my voice has been heard here, thanks.

Thanks devs! Hopefully everyone else thinks it would be as useful as I think it is. I patiently await!
