Display idle time?

Post by freshj »

Hey guys.
How can I make Adium show the amount of time a contact has been idle for?

Cheers

Go into the contact list preferences, edit your contact list layout, and in the contacts section, check the box that says "Show", and you will have a few pulldown menus that let you choose: "(idle) Status", "Status", and "Idle time". That should do it for you.

This requires:

1) The protocol you're using to tell us the length of time contacts have been idle. I know for a fact that AIM does, but other protocols may not.

2) Idle times set as visible as detailed by Tipo

It is possible he is selecting to display idle time only, where the status font color is matching his background, which would explain the "it just makes the status disappear" comment.

Please make sure this isn't the case, and be sure that the protocol you are using in fact supports idle times.

MSN DOES support an "Idle" status, however, and I think we show "(idle)" next to someone with that status.
