Adium sometimes freezes when toggling display of offline....

Post by Gary King »

Sometimes when I toggle the display of offline contacts, Adium freezes. Happens about 50% of the time. Is this a known issue?

What else do you need? I haven't changed my Adium at all; it's like a freshly installed Adium. I only use it to add contacts; I don't change the skin nor do I add plugins or anything.

I think The-Tick wants to know:
1) What accounts are connected
2) What version
3) Does it freez at any other times
4) anything else unusual you've noticed
5) Operating system

Gary, you report enough problems that you should know what we need generally when reporting an issue.

How many contacts are being toggled to display/not display when you do this?

I have about 125 contacts. Usually about 25% are online when I toggle.

When did this start occuring?

What display style do you have enabled?

Can you provide a screenshot of your contact list, non-blurred.

Started occuring about a week or two ago.

Window Style: Regular Window.

I can't show you my contact list without blurring the contact names, but I can show it to you without blurring the contact groups, if I can just show a screenshot with the groups collapsed.

It'd be best if you just ask me what you want to see in the contact list, though, because it's very personal for me.

I want to see how much detail is in the contact list, how big the fonts are, etc.

Try disabling the images and then seeing if it's still happening.

Which images? I don't have the user images enabled.

What the hey? A sample would be much more useful than fiddling with the config...

Wanted to see if it was images first. I had this problem a bit back with .89.1 too. Disabling some images worked for me. *shrug*

I think this is the same problem I have filed as ticket 3302. It occurs for me when logged into AIM and Gtalk. I have a very minal buddy list, too (one line of names, no display of buddy icons or service icons, just the status icon). I provided a sample with the ticket.

I've noticed it doesn't seem to happen as much in 0.89.1, if that helps at all. I haven't had the problem occur in a while, in fact. The problem seemed to happen mostly when showing hidden contacts and then trying to scroll the buddy list, but it occasionally happened other times as well.
