Check out iVisit (http://www.ivisit.com). It's a little program that offers cross-platform video. I remember that the video was quite good (though you have to pay for the app, I seem to remember it wasn't a huge amount). Anyway, you'd both have to buy it, but worth a look. :)

Dude, the latest iChat on the mac and AIM on the PC will get the job done. Should be no money spent except for the cost of the web-cam or iSight.

yeah, aim/iChat works great cross platform. i do webcam with pc users pretty often with iChat. just make sure your girlfriend has windows xp.
