Adium + Xfire

Post by kainjow »

I've started writing an Xfire plugin for Adium, based on xfirelib.

Updated info/links:

The project is now called Xblaze and you can find out more here:

Also, please use the forums on my site:

Even if I don't use Xfire, it looks awesome the work you are doing.
And I bet theres people who would really want this on the mac.

Good job !

In-game IMing (would require some type of Cocoa SIMBL-like plugin, but since most games are Carbon that wouldn't work. Xfire's FAQ say they inject a DLL into games, so it may be possible through that mach_inject crap but I wouldn't be the one to know).

Please, don't implement this feature! This feature is so buggy for me and the DLL messes up my games (JKA and BF2)

But other than that, awesome!!!! I can host a download if you need it.

I'm trying to get a build up asap but I'm having issues buildling a universal binary of the plugin. Once I get it built I'll upload it and post the link so you can see how it runs on a PPC (hopefully it semi-works).

You give an NSAttributedString for the profile, so you could definitely include an image as an attachment. Wouldn't it make more sense to use the image as the contact's buddy icon, though?

The plugin won't connect to my account. The information is correct.

I'm on a iBook G4 1 GB of RAM, PPC, 60 HB ATA HD, Adium 1.0b 6

BTW, I love the new Adium Icon!!

The image is pulled from Xfire's website, so I'd have to check that every so often. Plus, the smallest image is still kind of big, so I think it'd be best to put in in the profile, but I will have to play with it later on.

Wootness! I got it working on PowerPCs!! Updated URL has been posted above.

Additionally, I've made some nice improvements to the way the contact list updates, along with some other little fixes. Test away!

I believe that Adium can scale down the avatars for the buddy icon(?).

I could also set the user's game icon as their buddy icon.

Yeah, the avatars are automatically scaled down in all locations except for when clicking the user icon toolbar button in the message window (at which point it is delibrately shown at full size).

Hey, development looks great! I was wondering if it is deliberate that you can't move contacts out of the Xfire group or not. Another thing I have trouble with is that I cant give an Alias to a contact with it reverting back. (ie Override)

Great start! Keep it up.
