Error timeout then switched back to 2.5.5, now working fine

Post by omegaman »

I was getting constant uploading errors in the latest release but diid not try the lastest build. I read about trying 2.5.5 again and I did, and it is working fine again. No more errors. I use Tiger 10.4.6 on a 20" Core Duo.

Actually I first started out with 2.6 and everything worked fine for a few weeks. No I updated to 2.6.1 and get constant I/O errors and timeout errors so that the application is impossible to use. I will try downgrading now to see if that solves it.

I should also say that my post may not be that helpful. It could be a local problem I am having with the router here, I need to check some more. We had a power outage yesterday and now that I think about it the problems did start after that. I did reset the router and modem several times since but it hasn't helped unfortunately.

Update on the downgrade: After downgrading back to 2.6, I am still getting the time out errors. Looks like it may not be a Cyberduck issue but either a problem here with my router or at my host, although they said everything is working fine on their end.

I guess I could downgrade further and try 2.55 since you said it solved your problem.

I ended up back to trying the latest version of Cyberduck 2.6.1

Trying to narrow all the variables is hard between ISP, modem, phone router, wireless router, FTP program and web host.

To rule out the routers interference, I connected my computer directly to the cable coming out of my modem and had the same issues. So that leaves the problem being either the FTP program, the ISP or the web host.

Seems like Cyberduck may not be the problem, because I connected and uploaded fine to a different web host, while my main one still gives me problems.

Contacted my host and they said everything was running fine for them and to set the simultaneous connections to a max of 3 because that is their limit, and if that was set, active mode could be tried assuming no others were trying to connect elsewhere. He explained that passive mode essentially meant that the connections were being limited to one so I could try active mode with the limit of connections at 3.

Tried that configuration and it looked promising until it timed out again while uploading a 9MB shopping cart app. after about 3.5MB uploaded. Subsequent attempts to "resume" upload all time out with I/O errors.

He also mentioned doing a traceroute to my ftp server. I did and it showed several jumps timing out in the route. Could that be an issue? It still made it all the way to the FTP server every time.

Obviously I don't know much of the details about network issues, so if you have any tips that may sound basic, they would probably help me. thanks.
