Does Adium automatically add new people to the contact list?

Over the last few days (ever since I've gone beta) I've gotten messages from people who I either purposefully left off my contact list or I have never met before. As soon as I recieve the message, their name shows up permanently in my contact list. All the people that have talked to me have been from AIM, so I can't tell you if its a global thing or just an AIM thing.

This might not even be a glitch. Let me know where the preference is

Possibly -

Preferences -> Accounts -> (dbl-click on AIM account) -> Uncheck "Show Recent Buddies" or whatever it is
