Buddy Icon replacement?

I know there's an option in Adium to set a Buddy Icon for your contacts etc. so that you've defined said icon and thus that's what always shows up. Is there a way to remove this setting so that you get icon information from your contact instead?

Click the icon you've set previously. Hit delete.

Erm? If I try to do that in just the contact info window (i.e. when it's the little icon up at the top left hand corner) it doesn't do anything, nor when I double click that icon to get the [contact]'s image page and try deleting that. Am I missing something?

Evan, it sounds like what he's done is set his contacts icons in Address Book and had Adium use those icons for his contact list...but now he wants to revert back to letting his contacts have the icons they use show up on his list, instead of what he's got for them in Address Book.

rosesanguina, you should first go to Adium's Advanced preferences and uncheck the box that says "Use Address Book images as contacts' icons"

Then, relaunch Adium. It might take some time for the new icons to show up, or we could also figure out which cache folder we should delete, which would speed up the process.

Not quite, actually. In the contact info thinger, where the icon is at the top left hand corner, I can double click on that and set an icon manually, yeah? I've only done so for two or three people. And now I want to remove that and I'm not sure how. Is that something that's only available in Adium 1.0? (I'm still running 0.89.)

Select that top left square. don't double click it. Then hit delete. It should work.

If it doesn't, that's a bug

Just out of curiosity...if you have a buddy added under more than one screen name, is there a way to remove the icon in the same way? That's why it wasn't working before -- even when I signed on both accounts simultaneously, it wouldn't let me remove the icon unless I removed the contact from one of my accounts, deleted the icon from the second, then re-added them to that account and removed them from the first to delete the icon there as well. Which just seems...terribly convoluted.
