some ideas..

Post by cruciarius »

i did do a search before posting and couldn't find this, so...

this is probably impossible, but...i would like to be able to block invisible users from IMing me. i think its very rude for someone to be invisible and try talking to them, because if people sometimes leave without saying bye or anything. or is it possible to make so invisible users are shown as visible anyway? or maybe cause them to get some kind of auto response telling them to become visible to IM me without me getting the message they try to send?

i didn't search for this (just thought of it now), but...maybe someone could make an editor of some kind, so anyone could make their own buddy list/chat windows/emoticons easily, without needing to know any programming language. i did look at the creating x(tras) page, but both things there brought me to some forum site, telling me i have no permissions to do what ever those links wanted me to do.

Blocking is covered here, in the "Common Requests" sticky thread: http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=166

As for an editor, we'd sure like it too. :) It's a big project but someone was at least thinking about it a while ago... not sure about any progress though.

i know about that thread, but i thought blocking was for specific people. i want to stop any invisible users from IMing me, but if they become visible, then they can IM me. not really block them completely.

its good to know someone else also had the editor idea. hopefully one day it'll be made. :)

I think you shouldn't try to dictate how other people use their IM clients. They're probably invisible for a reason.
