AIM Buddy Icon not updating
AIM Buddy Icon not updating
I'm running Adium X 1.0b12 and my buddy icon is not changing. I am trying to change it from a .jpg file to an animated gif but it does change. My buddy icon is the older .jpg file and when I go to my personal tab it is showing the new .gif file. I really doubt this is a beta issue as it did this to me before the first 1.0 beta. I have tried to change it from the older .jpg file to a different .jpg file with no use. What should I do?

There are two places to set a buddy icon, under each account and in the personal tab of the adium preferences. Try changing both, or making sure that the one that has the icon set correctly is the one being used (ie: Use Global if you're using the one in the personal preferences, Use This Icon if you want the account specific icon to be the one used) there may be a conflict between the two icons, I had that problem for a little while.

Had that problem because the account was set to "use this icon" (user error)? Or it was set to "use global" but was still using the one set for the specific account (program bug)?LuxuryChair wrote:There are two places to set a buddy icon, under each account and in the personal tab of the adium preferences. It was the buggy way, where it was set to use global, but it was showing my specific icon - but only in some weird places.
My bonjor acount would display an old graphic a lot, and my growl notifications would sometimes show the wrong icon. I'm not sure exactly what other users were seeing, but it bugged me to have my growl notifications (of myself signing on and off) have the wrong icon.
Then again I've also had it the other way, the "I'm just being stupid" way and was wondering why it wouldn't change =P

I've taken a look at the code and I can't see any way it could fail as-is -- when you select "use global icon" it completely removes the stored reference to the previous, account-specific icon. I think this was a bug in one of the earlier betas that has since been fixed... but let us know if it comes backLuxuryChair wrote:It was the buggy way, where it was set to use global, but it was showing my specific icon - but only in some weird places.
