File Transfer

Post by ej25power »

I've read the wiki thing on adiumx.com, it does nothing for me. I'm behind a router, and I think I port forwarded like it said.

Did I do that right? I'm pretty sure that's what it said to do.

I swear I transfered a file after I installed the router too...but today it just doesn't want to work.

I'm trying to do this on my AIM account.

What version of Adium are you using? Safe to assume that its .89.1?

As I'm sure you read in the wiki, file transfer is pretty buggy in Adium. AIM file transfer is apparently greatly improved for the next official version of Adium (currently in beta stage).

Looking at the pic of your router's ports, it seems to be set up properly to my knowledge, the only possibility is that 192.168.2.100 is not your computer's IP (you can check in System Preferences -> Sharing)

Usually, if I'm having issues with file transfers, I can restart Adium, and it will be ok.

Right now, the user I'm sending to will get the prompt, accept, and their screen will say I cancelled the transfer. Mine will say they cancelled or have the candy cane progress bar until I manually cancel.

The IP is correct AFAIK.

As m2e said, the beta of Adium 1.0 has a more stable file transfer implementation (it fixed all of my personal problems with it), but it is pre-release software, so keep that in mind.

If you're comfortable with it, try 1.0. If you'd rather wait, I'm sure it'll become an actual release... "when its ready" :P

1) Try the beta without the port forwarding configured
2) What AIM client is the recipient using?
The duck still burns.

Ok..since I had problems with the beta last night I just switched back to 0.89.1

File transfer still didn't work last night.

Just now...without changing any settings it worked. I sent a file to someone I failed to send to last night.

I guess it's just the nature of the program like mentioned above.

thanks everyone who gave input.
